Detox

We're constantly in a rush, making ourselves sick with stress and cluttering our minds with toxic thoughts. We're polluting ourselves. There's more to detoxification than breaking a drug addiction or engaging in colonic purging.

We all need to detoxify our bodies and minds regularly, to give our livers an opportunity to remove unhealthy toxins and to improve our overall mental and physical health.

How can you cleanse and refresh yourself?

1. Follow a detoxification program.
There's a wide variety of detox options available. Choose a program and a time that suits you. It's not a good idea to undertake a detox program during the time with the least activities. Not a good idea to schedule it before Thanksgiving, Christmas, a big party coming up, etc. Allow a lot of time just for yourself to be alone, as you'll likely feel weakened and cranky.

Benefits: Your body needs the opportunity to eliminate all its accumulated toxins. Reactions vary, but many people report that they're no longer sluggish and feel reenergized after they've completed a detox program. Detoxifying your body can boost your metabolism by ridding your body of excessive toxins that clog your arteries and digestive system.

Recommended Colon Cleanse.

2.Use new LifeWave Non-Transdermal nanotechnology detox patches.

This non-transdermal patch system elevates Glutathione levels, (the master antioxidant), and massively detoxifies the liver as well as protect the skin from future damage. This is now a new way of getting antioxidant into your body to improve your health and appearance without having to swallow pills or drinks.

Benefits: Most people have a dramatic detox effect starting within the first 24 hours of using the patch. This results in more radiant and cleaner skin within the first few days of use.

3. Clear your mind.
Sit alone in a room, relax and concentrate on clearing your mind. Try meditation to unwind and calm yourself. Train yourself to think optimistically. Use positive affirmations. See the positive in everyday situations. Learn and use EFT as much as possible.

Benefits: When you wear yourself out, you allow toxins to gain a foothold and you're more likely to get sick. Take the time to recharge your batteries by letting go of toxic thoughts that cloud your thinking.

4. Breathe deeply.
When you're stressed, focus on your breathing for a few seconds to calm yourself down. Breathe properly, deep into your lungs. Feel your ribcage expand and contract as you expel all the stale air and replace it with new air to re-oxygenate your system. Get outside whenever you can, preferably in the country, to refresh the air in your lungs and refresh your attitude.

Benefits: Breathing slowly and deeply reduces the adrenaline rush of the natural "fight or flight" response when you're facing a stressful situation. That adrenaline can be very useful in the short term, but it can also cause a build-up of toxins in your bloodstream.

Take care of your body, eliminate stress, improve your circulation, and more ways to detox your body and mind.

5. Take better care of your body.
Eat light and healthy and as much raw food as possible. Cut down on alcohol, stop smoking and try reducing your intake of red meat for a few days. Take natural supplements to clean out your system and purify your digestive tract. Drink plenty of water; it keeps you hydrated, improves elimination and helps you maintain better eating habits. When you have a headache, sore muscles or minor illness symptoms, try homeopathic remedies before reaching for over-the-counter or prescription medications.

Benefits: When your metabolism has been slowed down and your liver enzymes are struggling to do their job effectively, things can get backed up. You'll feel much better once you eliminate that build-up of unhealthy waste and speed up your sluggish bowels. Focusing on what chemicals you ingest will make it easier for you to eat better for improved health benefits.

6. Eliminate excessive stress.
Focus on what's important and don't pollute your thoughts with negativity and trivial things. Avoid worrying too much. Work on being more positive and catch yourself when you're focusing on worst-case scenarios. Apply EFT to get rid off negative emotions.

Benefits: Worrying can make you sedentary, virtually paralyzed with fear. The vast majority of what we worry about never actually happens so banish those toxic thoughts.

7. Talk about your problems.
Understand and address the issues you're facing, as keeping everything to yourself adds stress. Try writing out your problems; they might seem much less worrisome when you actually look at the issues objectively. Let's say you're angry at your buddy for sticking you with the lunch bill twice last week. When you analyze it closely, you might remember that he picked up the tab for an expensive dinner last month. Always try to think before you speak, especially in anger. Remember EFT.

Benefits: Ill-timed words and emotions can create toxic relationships and a hostile workplace. Looking at things clearly gives you an opportunity to make a calm, informed decision. Building up negativity will slow down your thought processes, affect your digestion and increase your stress levels.

8. Get moving.
Visit a spa and sweat those toxins out of your body. Have a massage and feel the tension slipping from your muscles. Take an oxygen treatment to re-oxygenate your blood. Get some exercise. Walk, run, swim -- whatever gets you moving.

Benefits: Pampering yourself (it's not only for women!) and doing things you enjoy will have excellent short- and long-term health benefits by helping to detoxify your mind and body.

There's no quick fix to detoxify your body and mind. Although these tips do not offer an instantaneous solution, they can help you make healthier choices. We need to stay continuously aware of our thinking processes, as well as our actions and our inactions, if we are serious about correcting bad habits. It's easier to make changes to your daily routine once you've identified the problem areas and the potential solutions.

Now that you know more about those toxins lurking in your system, clouding your judgment, making you lethargic, and subjecting you to more illnesses, you can choose to take some corrective detoxifying action.

Vital Principles for a Healthy Liver

Did you know that a healthy liver will reduce the time bomb of ageing, increase your life span and keep your weight under control?

The liver is the gateway to the body and takes the load off our precious immune system. Excess weight, poor health and digestive disorders are often due to Liver dysfunction.

Think Raw
Eat plentiful amounts of raw fruits and vegetables, especially dark green leafy vegetables and orange, yellow, purple and red colored fruits and vegetables. Thirty to forty percent of the diet should consist of raw fruits and vegetables. Try to eat some raw fruits or vegetables with EVERY meal as they contain living enzymes, vitamin C, natural antibiotic substances and anti-cancer phytonutrients.

Oil but Don't Grease Your Body
Avoid the fats that present a high workload for the liver and gall bladder. These are full-cream dairy products, margarines, processed vegetable oils (hydrogenated fats), deep fried foods, foods that are not fresh and contain rancid fats, preserved meats, animal skins and fatty meats. In those with a dysfunctional liver, I recommend avoiding all animal milks and substituting them with oat, rice, almond or soymilks.

Eat the "good fats" which contain essential fatty acids in their natural unprocessed form.
These are found in cold pressed vegetable and seed oils, avocados, fish (especially oily fish such as salmon, tuna, sardines, herring, sablefish, flounder, trout, bass and mackerel), shrimp, prawns and crayfish, raw fresh nuts, raw fresh seeds such as flaxseeds (linseeds), sunflower seeds, safflower seeds, sesame seeds, hemp seeds, alfalfa seeds, pumpkin seeds and legumes (beans, peas and lentils). Seeds such as flaxseeds can be ground freshly everyday (in a regular coffee grinder or food processor) and can be added to cereals, smoothies, fruit salads and vegetables. Spirulina, evening primrose oil, black currant seed oil, borage oil and lecithin also contain healthy oils to help the liver. Do not use butter and/or margarine on your breads and crackers. Replace them with tahini, humus, pesto, tomato paste or relish, freshly minced garlic and cold pressed oil (chilli or other natural spices can be added if enjoyed), nut-spreads, fresh avocado, cold pressed olive oil or honey. The good fats are essential to build healthy cell membranes around the liver cells. As we get older we need to "oil".

The best vegetables for the liver are:

  • carrots and beetroots because they contain antioxidants such as beta-carotene, other carotenoids and healing flaivonoids which give color to these vegetables. These vegetable antioxidants have a healing and cleansing effect on the liver.

  • Lecithin helps the liver to metabolize fats and reduces high cholesterol levels. It also contains essential fatty acids and phosphatidylcholine which helps to keep the membranes around the liver cells ( hepatocytes) healthy.

Alfalfa and barley leaf or barley grass can be eaten to give your liver a shot of chlorophyll which is the green pigment that gives plants their color and enables them to convert solar energy into food energy. Chlorophyll acts as both a liver tonic and a liver cleanser.

Improve your bowel function

  • Lower cholesterol

  • Increase elimination of toxins via the bowel actions

  • Reduce the risk of bowel cancer

  • Reduce constipation

  • Reduce irritable bowel syndrome

  • Prevent hemorrhoids

The colon can easily become overloaded with waste material and parasites, which produce toxins.

If these toxins recirculate from the bowel back to the liver via the entero-hepatic circulation, the liver must work harder to breakdown these toxins. These toxins can overload the body causing immune dysfunction and poor general health. If you are constipated the waste products left behind after digestion may stagnate inside your colon and decay. This is why it is important to "sweep the walls of your colon" regularly to eliminate stagnant and toxic waste. Dietary fiber can give your colon a thorough spring clean because it acts like "a broom" sweeping the walls of the colon free of encrusted waste material. It feels so good to eliminate these waste products regularly and easily without straining.
